New design of Combat grinder

A long time has passed since the last post. After the grinding test , using the experience, we designed the final version. Perhaps you remember the test version:

f

We have added the followings:

– Variable speed
– Ergonomic controls
– Safety features
– Magnetic portafilter locking mechanism

Here are some drawings about the final design:

Combat Grinder

Gábor Szendrő designed a no-compromise home barista grinder.

The idea

Very few manufacturer develops for home baristas, but (because of the likely economic considerations), may only offer a conventional manual design. (HG One, Pharos, Portaspresso.) These everyday multiple muscle pedaling is who can withstand, but a lot of people (such as me), is not really a thing.
Since I am in the fortunate position that there is a sufficient industrial background, maybe you should try to hammer out an “ideal” home barista grinder with motor.
-So use it top knives
-make compact size,
-grinds with a hand grinder speed,
-simple to treatment, and
-very easy to clean up stagnant coffee.
In other words, a smaller motor HG-One shrunk. Such a device today (yet) really not in the market.

0ab5b9f40f56deb5c3cfae1ad5f21fab   Became an idea, which would result in an initial construct an interesting solution might be, if not rotate the inner conical knife,  but the external one.
This arrangement has some advantages:
-Open structure,
– Slow rpm because of the large diameter ratio (4 – 5 times) can be brought together.
With relatively flat structure would result. The rotor bearings due to the large diameter, mainly to the plane of rotating grinder placed, given (standard) bearing clearances will result in less errors.
-Also a motivating factor (in fact it is really) do that perhaps no one has done, so it has some challenges, such as how to. (When we started planning, this solution could not find an example. Since then the Pharos-inch coffee guru also threw the website to see what ingenious solution to this would be, but for now, obviously does not fit into that because of time and lack of capacity.)

The details

The grinder dc motor with a toothed belt rotates so that the power supply is a 12V, 10A single, ready-made items (power LED bulb). I think this is a DIY device is particularly useful when the device is not listed on the 220V.
One of the coffee grinder, like the HG to Mazzer cone crushing plant, the largest of the three-phase Robur type.

The grinding head is simple, thin-walled cylinder body assembly is essentially two categories:

First, the moving parts: the outer annular sleeve carrier burrs supporting and also function as a pulley, and two large pieces of prestressed deep groove ball bearing in mind the position. The timing belt is tucked away among the dust sealing bearings, totally enclosed space, such as coffee powder is not really supposed to be. (In practice, because of the aggressiveness of the coffee powder, after a sufficiently long time is probably yes.)

The grinder has 50 rpm. Nevertheless, we feel the long grinding time. About 16g of coffee push through it in half a minute.
The internal conical grinder with a short shaft is connected to a multi-component. One of the tasks of a cylindrical metal block to his throat, where three thin rib extends into the grinder cantilever axis.

The next part is about the testing, and the results…
